All migrants to the fortress are prisoners from the mountainhome set to serve a random sentence (Random number generator). At the end of the sentence the prisoner is allowed to go free, using the exile script linked above.

Having a 1x1 dump zone behind a door can be useful to quickly move miasma-prone items out of the public areas.
