Hello, several mods and tools (including AFAIK the vanilla DAUpdater.exe you'll find in your DAO install folder's "bin_ship" subdirectory) assume the existence of a registry folder at "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Bioware\Dragon Age" where they can find, for instance, a "Path" key. However, this is absent in the GOG version.
